AMMAN, JORDAN (November 15, 2018)- Under the patronage of HE Dr. Turki Ibrahim Obeidat, President of Al Zaytoona University of Jordan, HelpAge International’s Knowledge and Resources Hub, in cooperation with Al Zaytoonah University of Jordan, Al-Weibdeh Health Center and Smart Nutrition Consulting Company, organized an open day for elderly women at the Knowledge and Resources Hub. Nearly 70 elderly people attended the event in the presence of the Vice-President of the University of Zaytuna Jordanian Prof. Dr. Mohammed Majali.
This event is to promote and raise awareness among older women about the diseases that affect them and how to deal with them. A number of medical services were also offered, such as a free examination of blood pressure, diabetes, bone density measurement, and measurement of body mass index under the supervision of a team of specialists.
Eng. Mohamed Tashtoush, one of the organizers of the event pointed out the importance of humanitarian work and the need to provide health care for the elderly as well as the importance of our role as community members and health workers in facilitating this type of services to them. It is important to keep in mind that older people are the fathers, the mothers, the teachers or the doctors, which at one point or another helped and contributed to our development and renaissance, a real reason and motivation behind every progress or success we have achieved as individuals and as a community.
Lastly, it is also worth mentioning; that this event is implemented as a part of the " Leaving No One Behind project” activities through HelpAge International’s knowledge and resources hub in Jordan, which is keen to implement and support comprehensive sustainability and social cohesion initiatives to enhance the adaptive and comprehensive integration of age provided by local, national and international organizations, private sector organizations and the Government.
