Amman, 13 May 2020 - HelpAge International launched an emergency project in response to COVID-19 to ensure that older men and women are included in response programs.
the emerging information about Corona-virus “COVID-19” indicates that people who suffer from some chronic diseases and older people are considered to be amongst the groups most at risk of infection from others, in addition to their exposure to other harms such as difficulty in accessing basic services and isolation, which may lead to the increase of fear feelings loneliness and tension amongst them.

This project is funded by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) with the resources from the Jordan Humanitarian Fund (JHF). This project is designed around the strategic priority of protect, assist, and advocate and will take place for a duration of three months. This project was a subsequent response to the HelpAge Advocacy Campaign, My Health, My Care, My Right, which was developed and led by the older people’s committee, for the purpose of improving and increasing the level of services (particularly health) for all older men and women with and without disabilities. The project will target Tafileh, Amman, Mafraq, and Zarqa governorates.
