Amman, January 28- HelpAge International organized today a health awareness day for older men and women in a series of sessions on health and healthy food through the activities of the municipal works project implemented in cooperation with the Finnish Church Aid (FCA, where the activity that was held in Al-Dhlail Municipality dealt with the topic of osteoporosis followed by an examination of osteoporosis for all beneficiaries carried out by the University of Al-Zaytuna represented by the Nursing School.
This activity comes as one of the activities of the municipal works project that aims at working in the six municipalities of Jerash, Sahab, Mahis, Al-Mafraq "Al-Manshia & Zaatari", Al-Dhalil and Ajloun "Al-Junaid". Those involved in these activities seek to increase the health awareness of the older people on diseases that older people can be affected with or exposed to, such as: hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis. The older people were made aware of ways of preventing such diseases and how to deal with their symptoms. It is noteworthy stating that the number of sessions in each region comes to 4 sessions at the average of one session per week for each region; the number of beneficiaries has reached around 120 older men and women in total.
