THE OLDER PEOPLE SOCIAL COMMITTEE LAUNCHES ADVOCACY AND AWARENESS CAMPAIGN, "MY HEALTH, MY CARE, MY RIGHT"

2020/04/05

Amman, April 5 - The older people’s social committee, which works under the umbrella of HelpAge International, launched an advocacy and awareness campaign entitled, “My Health, My Care, My Right.” This was launched online with the purpose of getting across the voices of older men and women and advocate for an improved level of services and health care provided to them. Currently, during the COVID-19 crisis, the campaign has added to its focus access to awareness, protection, and prevention messages.

This campaign was developed by the older people themselves, who identify a gap in care services for older people and  wish to enhance their right to obtain necessary health care, with the intention and hope that the campaign will reach all parts of the Kingdom.

The campaign seeks to work with decision makers to allocate a pathway dedicated to the older people over 60 years in government facilities and hospitals,  to allocate a general practitioner for the older people in every government hospital, in addition to raising community awareness of the rights of the older people by targeting primary and secondary decision makers and  the local society .

The creation of this platform was possible through the support of German Humanitarian Assistance, Aktion Deutschland Hilft and NAK-KArITATIV.
